Untitled (Black Gravity Field) (2008) |

| This two-panel silkscreen work depicts an imagined map of the measurement network for the Iranian gravitational field, based on geodetic data from the National Cartographic Center in Tehran. All governments measure the gravity field for its use in coordinating the GPS network, weather prediction, tracking tectonic plate movement, as well as its use in long-range ballistics trajectories. The subject of this map is the politicized sublime. The work draws the outline of the Iranian map in black ink on black paper, and the inverse area blocks in white ink on white paper, making it readable only upon close inspection. | ||||
